the things we do with papa

We've had some good weeks since Nathan got home. Time is flying now! Naturally. So, I'm not sure if any of ya'll remember when Nathan made this clubhouse but the time has come to break it down. It rains allot here....big shocker, I know. Thus the wood was gross inside and full of spiders. Levi played it in it so rarely that one day we discovered a cat was living in there. All that to say...the next few pictures are of the demolition party.
Papa and his little helpers.

Every little girl needs her daddy to teach her the ways of the hammer, right?
And every first born son needs to stand watch, armed and ready, while his papa and Little sister are busy.

love it
This is a new game that Levi and Gracie love to play which makes me pretty nervous. Pretty obvious.

Levi has always been into drawing, rather than coloring. His drawings keep getting more and more impressive. He's very good at drawing from sight......seeing something and drawing it. One of his other specialties is journal drawing. Drawing a story and having all the details in his mind as he goes along. He's a story teller.
A few days ago we found a Caterpillar in our drive way. I hesitated for a moment deciding whether it was safe for the creature to call my kids' attention to it. I decided to go ahead, even though they might just squash it before I could stop it. I was pleasantly surprised by their curiosity and attention span. Usually they both just get wiggly at the sight of bugs and then stomp it out.

I just love Gracie's hair in these pictures too. I will not give up on her hair....I do it over and over again all day long because she constantly takes it out. But I will win....eventually. And I will get cute pictures in the mean time.
Levi even surprised me with being brave enough to scoop the little woolly worm right up. He must be growing up.

A few seconds after this picture he got a case of the chills and had to fling it off.
I'm sorry to say that, after so much attention and curiosity was devoted to the little crawly friend, Gracie killed it. Or as we say in this household...she defeated it. But I will defend her by saying I think it was done out of love and not hate.
One evening Nathan apparently felt the need to swaddle two children. It's not a super big deal that really needs to be photographed, except that it hasn't happened to them for 7+ months, so I thought I'd break the camera out for it.
It's actually been a very common occurrence in our house. Even as far back to dogs before we had children to swaddle.

It has been a couple weeks since this happened, but Levi lost his 2 bottom front teeth. I was in denial and wouldn't believe him when he said that they were loose. I don't do tooth stuff. I brush them and that's it. The thought of them wiggling or coming out really freaks me out. So, when Levi had some dental work done and the dentist told me his bottom teeth were so loose he just went ahead and pulled them....it shocked me. But there it is.
Nathan has begun to take Levi with him for some golf practicing fun. For this instance, we just walked down toward the beach from our house and they played around on this large patch of grass. The clouds were awesome overhead. Oh, and don't be worried about Gracie on the street. Cars aren't allowed to drive on it, so it's really just a path to get to the beach. She is in no danger.

Gracie, just like all younger siblings I'm sure, HAS to be involved in everything that big brother does. She repeats his every word and mimics his every move. And you know he eats it up. His own personal audience and fan club all in one. But it certainly is educational for her. She seems to speak in full sentences and already knows things before I get the chance to tell her. And she has been able to do everything active since the moment she started walking.
Bella girl and I just ran around scattering dandelions here and there while the boys played their game.
And to finish this blog off; Little Gracie daisy drinking out of my splendid thrift store treasure. Several of my blog readers know that my Aunt Lora and Uncle Lou always had a couple of these cowboy boot glasses at their house. All the kids always fought over who should get them and whom they truly belonged to. I'm of the persuasion that they were mine. And now they are...mwahahahaha! I found 10 at the local thrift store! So excited.

Good times being had! Naturally.

It's funny because Naaman just took up golfing. He goes out with my dad who is a marshall at a local course now that he's retired. Naaman LOVES it. Our men are so athletic at everything, aren't they? I guess he's pretty good for a beginner. Too bad Nathan and Naaman couldn't play a round together when you're home.

About those teeth, yes, I would be freaked out too about teeth coming loose. Ugh, I forgot about that. My boys' teeth are perfect as they are. Do they really have to lose them?

And finally, may the caterpillar rest in peace :(
