everything

It's been a while since I've updated, so this will be a somewhat lengthy post. Lots of news and pictures to go over, but we'll take it one step at a time. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Since acquiring this "new" car, there has been lots of work/cleaning involved. It needed a good washing, and Levi figured his car must need one too.

He was a pretty diligent little car washer.

After his car was squeaky clean he went around to any and all objects to fling suds on them. The table, chairs, slide, swing. It's fun playing outside...messiness is acceptable.

There has also been plenty of work done on the van. We are SO glad that Nathan is handy manny. He can do everything. Including replace the radiator while having a toddler on his "sholos" (shoulders).

Once again, as Papa needed to work on the engine of our car, Levi felt the call to work under his own car's hood. He even has his own tools for the job. It was cute to watch. Since I'm just the dainty mama, I get to sit on the steps and watch the two men work on their cars. Levi asked me to fix his car once or twice and I said, "All though there are some out there, I'm not that kind of girl, Levi."

Amidst all the car responsibilities, he has to morph into SuperMan and patrol the area.

One of SuperMan's joys: corralling the neighbor dog into a fence kiss. Don't worry, we already know this dog is nice and excited to see him. They greet each other through the fence most days. This is what Levi does when he's sad or pouting. I must have told him no about something. So, he walks aways and sits in a dejected form. Nothing like a good pout with the flowers. This is at one of Nathan's recent soccer games. We have to get there early for Nathan's pre-game warm up, so Levi and I stayed in the car with AC for a while. It's hot and bright! This is how Levi kept an eye on Papa. Nathan is enjoying soccer, except that he gets hurt every game. It's a little ridiculous. But, it's fun to watch the games.

The next few pictures are random daily snap shots. Here, we decided to line up all his cars. And this isn't even all of them. It seemed like enough though, after several trips to his room. The boy likes cars.
This is a picture that will live on through the ages. It's like his own Napoleon Dynamite portrait.
He made a piano out of his blocks. He proceeded to play it and request that I dance.

And last but not least..... I'm sure most know already that we are pregnant! We found out Thursday at 7AM. We had just gone to the doctor a request a certain pill (Metformin....It's NOT a fertility drug) that they gave us last time when it took us a year to get pregnant with Levi. We wanted to skip the whole frustrating year this time and just skip ahead to anything that would help. The doctor agreed and gave us what we requested. But he also wanted to test my blood for various routine pre-pregnancy things; one of the tests was of course a pregnancy test. The next morning at 7 I get a call from the clinic. My first thought as I was saying "hello" was that something was wrong with one of the results. So I said, "Is this about my lab work?" and his response was, "you're pregnant!" I was blown away. We had just recently done our own pregnancy tests are home a week before and they were negative, because it was too early to tell, I guess. I was not expecting his response at all, and I said, "Are you serious!?"
Anyway, yes of course he was serious, and we are pregnant. I then took my special at home pregnancy tests for pictures. We told Levi that evening when we went out for a celebratory dinner at Red Lobster. My friend Jenene is extremely pregnant and he sort of understands the idea that there is a baby in her tummy. Sort of. But that night at dinner when Nathan prayed for our meal he finished the prayer with, "thank you for the new baby in mama's tummy." I had my eyes on Levi when he said this, and Levi's reaction was to gasp and jerk his head up to look at me with big eyes and open mouth. After we said "Amen" Nathan said, "Levi, did you now there a baby in mama's tummy? Why don't you go give her a hug." So Levi slowly climbed under the table to my side. He peered at me but kept his position on the ground rather than climbing up onto the bench. From under the table he said, "You have a baby in your tummy?" I said, "Yes. You want to come up here?" He slowly approached me, with caution, cause it's pretty weird. He tentatively touched my belly and then sat back. I said, "Do you think it's a boy or girl baby?" He looked at me and said, "Let me see it." He couldn't make an informed decision without seeing it! I laughed and said that it needed to stay in my tummy and he couldn't see it yet. He just had to guess what he thought it might be. He cocked his head to the side and said, "mmmm....A girl baby."
He still doesn't really understand of course what it means. And we're not gonna talk about it too much to him. I don't want him to get impatient or freaked out. Once I start to get bigger I'm sure things will start to make a little more sense to him. By the time the baby comes he'll be good and prepared. Our due date is December 18. We of course haven't had any ultra sounds yet, but when we do I'll post the first pictures. Oh and Levi is right. This baby is a girl. You'll see.

That's cute that he does what Nathan's doing, but on his own car.
Xander does that sitting down all dejected thing too, it's sad looking.
I like the look on Levi's face holding the pregnancy test, like, I have no idea what's going on, but someone told me to hold this thing...

What a great story about telling Levi you're pregnant! That is so cute. I want you to know that we are so happy for you. I am thinking "pink, pink, pink" for you. Maybe if you have a girl I will have more hope for myself :)

I'm so excited for you and Nathan and Levi! I didn't even know that you were trying to get pregnant.

I love the pictures of Levi washing his car. It's nice to see him so into being like his father. I can't believe he is almost 3!

Like Father like son. Nathan use to fix stuff with his Dad, and it is being pasted on. Boy I hope the "fix it" part is passed on to Levi. It does come in handy. Also I see Nathan in Levi as Superman and cars, Oh boy. We still have a box of them that were the boys. Levi will love his sister or brother I'm sure, but it is a long wait for all. Congrats.
