Levi is 3

What follows are lots and lots of pictures from Levi's birthday week. Be forewarned.
Last Monday was Levi's 3rd birthday. And it was lovely. Of course his birthday celebrating really started as soon as we had any excuse. Like Grandad's b-day card arriving in the mail.

3 big bucks of his own to pick out a new toy at the store. He was excited.

And then we decided to go ahead and let him open his gift from Grammy and Pop. It had been here for a week or so, just waiting. Might as well spread his presents out over a few days so he can fully appreciate each one.
He played with it non-stop for the next couple of days!

On Mother's Day he got to open his package from Nanny and Grandpa Shalz. It had lots of goodies in it and was the hi light of his day.
New Potato heads are a little hard to maneuver. So, when he couldn't quite push the nose all the way in, he decided to go get his hammer to "bam bam bam" it in. It worked pretty well.

Here is the morning of his actual birthday- May 11. Nathan took that whole week off, so we had lots of plans. Sunday night of course we decorated the house for his sleepy eyes to see first thing Monday morning.
playing with our traditional Birthday box cake from Auntie Vera. He's always surprised when there are no gifts inside.
Naturally, he had birthday cake for breakfast. He's been looking forward to his own birthday cake for months.

Dancing to every one's favorite Beatles Birthday song.
Our main activity for the day was the Zoo! He was plenty excited about it.

He has a way with gorillas.

We took this picture for Grammy's sake. A couple years ago she bought us the Merekat manor season 1 knowing that we all would love to watch a show about animals. Levi also liked seeing them in person. With about every animal he asked if we could climb in and hold it.

Creepy

He wanted to be big like a giraffe.

Luckily he has a tall papa just right for the job.

He told us on the way to the zoo that the Elephant is his favorite animal. So he was pretty excited to spot them. Here he's waving at them of course. Every exhibit we came to, he would promptly yell out the animals name, telling it to "come here." It worked a few times.

This elephant put on a little show for us, bathing himself in dirt. Time and time again he's pick up a trunk full of dirt and spray it over his back. It was pretty fun to witness. We also got to partake in the dust a little; it was a windy day.

He enjoyed this little statue just like last year. He deems it "bery bery clute" (very cute)

After his nap on the car ride home he was more than ready for more celebration when we got home. He had a little piece of his cake for breakfast, but we didn't light candles or sing at that point. So, we fulfilled that duty...with a little chunk missing.

Here's his big present from us. A leapfrog click start. It good for kids to learn how to use computers, but not on mine!

Papa teaching him how to use it. We weren't sure how he would take to it from the start. I figured it would take some getting used to before it was exciting. But he was into it as soon as it was hooked up. He knew just what to do with all of it. I think, as he's observed us at our computer and been reprimanded for trying to touch it, he's been dreaming of the day he has his own turn.

After about three times of explaining to him what to do, he was a pro. He turns it on and clicks as he should. He chooses which game to play, what level to start at, and follows the directions. It's pretty impressive.
In the days following his birthday he got a few more things in the mail, which just serves to keep his birthday alive for longer. This is the toy he bought from Toys R Us with his gift card from Aunt Molly & Uncle Naaman.
He got this package from Aunt Lora & Uncle Lou.
Rock Chalk JayHawk!
This is the toy that he bought with his money from Grandad. Also he got a great Bible Songs cd from Auntie Vera and her clan. But it's hard to show him using that gift.

All in all he had a great birthday. And it's not even over yet because next Sunday he gets to have his birthday party with all his friends at the park! Fun Fun Fun.

As an ending note, Levi just told me, "You're doing great! Are you almost done?"
