Funny Boy

We had a nice little family picnic on Sunday afternoon. Levi loves playing outside, so it was a big hit. Papa brought out the football, of course. He can't wait until Levi can actually play catch with him. Right now Levi just plays Fetch, really. But it'll do. It was a nice little outing (in our backyard) It's very hard to get Nathan to do outside activities, so when he offers, you gotta jump on it. I'd say as soon as Levi can say, "Papa, can we got outside and play?" Nathan will get over the whole "outside bad, inside good" nonsense.
While eating our picnic lunch, Levi tried a pickle for the first time. He did enjoy it. I took pictures mostly for my Aunt Lora's sake. I remember her telling me how when I was itty bitty I loved to eat whole pickles at her house. So, I thought it only right that she see Levi eating pickles too.

Levi has been making funny faces for months now, but I can never catch it on camera. Finally, while eating lunch the other day I captured some of his favorites. It's always about his mouth , nose and eyes. I guess that's pretty much his face, eh? He smiles really big and dorky, exposing his little teeth, crinkles up his nose, squints his eyes and turns his face upwards. Usually there's also a little man giggle that accompanies the face.
He also has this new little bit. He tucks his chin down to his chest and raises his eyebrows to the roof so that he can still see you. He does it mostly at strangers now when they say hello to him. But he also does it at home...probably for comic relief. Or maybe just practice.

He brings me his hat and shoes now from time to time, I believe to ask to go outside. But the hat is a nice game for inside too. I put it on him, he walks aways feeling cool. Then, about 5 seconds later he comes back with it in his hands asking me to help him put it back on again. He's starting to put everything on his head now. I've been putting toys and all sorts of things on his head for a long time now, and laughing. He started out thinking it was strange, then he would try not to move so it would stay. And now he tries to do it himself. It's fun to teach games.

All of those pictures look so much like Alexander! But with a different shape of face. Alexander puts everything on his head too, like a plate of pancakes and syrup...and the girls panties, all the time!

Jacob does the same look with the arms and palms up . like "what?" or "i have no clue"

Hey, you should get Nathan a hammock for Father's Day! I have a similar attitude about going outside when I get home from BEING outside every day---but part of it is nothing comfortable to sit on out there. I love the pictures, pickles, faces and games. Can't wait to smother him in kisses sometime soon-ish!
