Dos de Mayo

Just this week Levi started bringing me books to read to him. Sometimes he'll sit back and listen to me read and watch me turn the pages. And other times he'll just keep opening and closing the book. But, eitehr way, he brings me the book, and wants to sit on my lap. It's so funny how he just starts new things. He's never done that before. He pulls the books off his shelves everyday, and messes with them by himself. But, all the sudden, he's bringing them to me. Funny.

Yesterday we took a little walk to the park and played for a while. Levi just loves to get outside and walk. I don't even need to provide toys for him really. He just wants to walk....outside. And coming back inside is upsetting. At the park he spent a lot of time picking up wood chips and throwing them over one of the steps on a ladder. That was a fun game. And then he discovered some rain water pooled up at the bottom of a slide. So, he played that like a drum for a good while, as his shirt and shorts became soaked. But, why go to the park if you're not gonna let 'em get dirty?

We finally settled on a church...supposedly. Apparently you never know, but we're planning to settle in now. We're actually back to the first church we went to on this Island...for crying out loud! It's very small, meets in a school gym, has no nursery for babies, and seems to fit up pretty well. Their nursery starts at 18 months, so anyone with younger children are welcome into the service, loud child or not. I still had to leave the room though. Making noise is one thing, screaming at the top of your little 11 month old lungs is quite another. I can't wait until he's out of that phase. Nothing's wrong...just screaming for fun, thank you very much. Anyway, it was still fine. The gym doors and windows are left open, because there's no AC, so I could still hear the sermon from outside while Levi walked around in the grass. We havn't been to a service there for several months, yet many people still remembered us, the Pastor included. One lady that I spoke to briefly several months ago remembered me and my name. And she's starting a mommy and kids playdate this friday morning. Perfect timing. I was just about to try to get into a play group on the Army base. I would much rather be in a play group from my own church. We both feel good about being at this church. I feel like it's finally settled and good. The pastor just sits and teaches the word, like a bible study. I've missed that style of teaching. I'm eager to be involved in a church that will help us grow in our walk with Jesus.

I LOVE Connie's quote! And I love the fact that Levi's bringing you books. Did you guys ever send Connie that pic I took of Nathan reading to 2 week old Levi the book from Nathan's childhood Connie had maild you? I'm also thrilled to hear he loves the great outdoors. And of course the church. That's what Pastor Pat does now, sit and teach, like a Bible study. It's peaceful and comforting and companionable.
