Crazy Cat

A stray cat has adopted us as his family. One day Levi and I were walking back from our mailbox, and we saw a kitty lounging on our neighbor's porch furniture. So we walked up to it to say hi. Levi had never seen a cat up close, so he was very smiley about it. I didn't know how the cat would respond, but he was very friendly and seemed to appreciate the attention, rather than despise it, like some cats I've known. We sat there with it for a few minutes and then said goodbye and went on our way. However, it followed us to our front door, to Levi's delight. Levi and I stayed outside to play with it a little bit, and I noticed he had no collar and was pretty skinny. Nathan was inside, so I told him to get some food for the kitty. We gave it some of Levi's whole milk and some leftover lunchable. Apparently that won him over, cause he's been outside our house ever since. That was Sunday, I think. We don't let him in the house, although he really really wants to. Clearly he enjoys the food, but he actually wants our attention too. He plays with Levi. He doesn't mind that Levi pets/whacks him on the back.

He and Levi walk around the front yard together, meowing at each other. And every time we go inside, we can hear him mewing at us for several minutes until he gives up and takes a nap.
Here's, he's on the other side of the door, if you can see, asking to be let in.

Even this morning, when Nathan was up for work, at 6:30, he had the front door open for a little while before he left, and I could hear the kitty meowing to be let in. I guess he's our new outside cat. I got him some kitty food, a food and water dish, and even a toy for Levi to dangle in front of him. I don't know if he'll stick around forever, or not, but he's there now. And Levi is enjoying it.

I bought this tub today to put Levi's living room toys in, so they're easier to put away at the end of the day. I had lots of Tupperware to choose from, but I got this one ultimately in honor of Aunt Lora. I remember that she had a few of these big tubs, with rope handles in her basement, with toys and whatever else in them. I was pretty stoked when I saw it at wal-mart. It brings back lovely feelings.

That's kind of fun that you have an adopted outdoor cat. My girls still ask to get a cat, just from playing with kittens last year!
That's cool that he plays with Levi, impressive that Levi dangles the toy for him!
I love that first picture in sepia.
Kudos on the Aunt Lora bucket.

He's a handsome cat I must say! All silvery and black, kind of metropolitain looking. Levi is awefully cute with him. I think Pippin will eventually appreciate him, as he loves a buddy (Joey/Kiwi). I will miss him so, you might get him for YOUR birthday! Love Levi's toy dangling and offering him the phone! Kudos on the Aunt Lora bucket.
